Presentation to the community of the spectrum of what major projects Rotary does, featuring the Shelter House Project, as well as the iron lung as part of our teaching materials for Polio Eradication Project October 2022. Dozens of Rotarians participants participated, and substantial numbers of Chicagoians walked along Michigan Avenue - along the "Miracle Mile." were interacted with.
.The iron lung is a remnant of a time in the early 1950's, when it was one of thousands of these. The virus had affected the nervous system to the point of the patient not being able to breathe well enough to sustain life.
Also erected was a large tent, from Rotary's Shelter Box Project, that comes with a variety of equipment and supplies, to enable victims of a disaster to survive until more sustainable help to aid in the survival of victims.
